Sudden Cardiac Death Awareness Research Foundation (S.C.A.R.F.)
S.C.A.R.F. stands for Sudden Cardiac-death Awareness Research Foundation. We are a nonprofit organization with a mission to decrease and ultimately eradicate sudden cardiac arrest, one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Today as the world is fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, our mission has become more urgent than ever. People with underlying heart disease have an alarmingly high mortality rate if infected with the COVID-19 virus. Their risk of dying from cardiovascular complications is ten times higher than the average population.
In an effort to fight COVID-19, S.C.A.R.F. has taken on the task of educating and empowering our communities. We have launched our volunteer-run taskforce helpline in response to this pandemic. The founders of S.C.A.R.F., Drs. Paul and Rubina Nguyen, board of directors, administrative team members, ambassadors, and volunteers are on standby to educate, guide and provided help as needed.
S.C.A.R.F would like to recognize USKids4Water which is a not for profit organization whose mission is raising awareness and supporting solutions for water related issues around the world. They were inspired by Paani Foundation, an organization committed to solving water crisis by teaching villagers in India of various techniques of harvesting and utilizing water for agricultural needs. On August 11th of 2019, USKids4Water hosted the World Water Conference in Chicago to spread awareness, knowledge and techniques of water conservation.
Our collaborative efforts during this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic reflects our commitment to ensure safety and health to our community.
